Our Founder

linda rowe thomas

After suffering traumatic burns from a house fire at age two, Linda spent her childhood undergoing multiple surgeries on her path to recovery. Her mom tricked her into doing physical therapy exercises with her hands by teaching her how to sew. Neither mother or daughter could have expected, that as a teenager Linda would start to sew her own clothes. It was finally a way Linda could demand stares at school that she controlled.

Linda Rowe Thomas is an awarded fashion designer, author, philanthropist, and motivational speaker who uses her adversities to inspire others. She founded her couture fashion brand Romás by Linda Rowe Thomas and later founded Designing Hope, a 501(c)(3) organization benefiting burn survivors.

In addition to showing at over 10 Fashion weeks around the world, Linda is the first and only burn survivor to showcase on the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Platform. Celebrity clientele includes: Erica Ash, actress from the hit STARZ series, Survivor's Remorse as well as other notable actresses, singers, and professional athletes. "Mount St. Mary Academy had the privilege of having renowned fashion designer and motivational speaker, Linda Rowe Thomas, serve as guest speaker for its biennial Mercy & Me fundraiser. The school welcomed over 700 guests in the Spring of 2017 to celebrate and support its mission of Mercy education for young women.

"On November 3rd Linda Rowe Thomas was the featured speaker at our North Little Rock Chamber Luncheon.

She unpacked her personal story of courage, determination and faith that only she can tell with such grace, sincerity and humor. The crowd, cried then laughed and everyone left feeling inspired and thankful.

Life is hard and when we get to feeling down we all need someone to help us keep things in perspective. Linda Rowe Thomas is just that kind of person. She is an inspiration to me! Best speaker we have had since I have been CEO of the Chamber!"

"I was watching the evening news and caught the last minutes of an extraordinary story about this extraordinary woman. I knew our Women's Day program at church was coming up and at the time I was pastor of St. Paul AME Church in Morrilton, AR.

We were in awe as Mrs. Rowe Thomas shared her story of survival. The Mistress of Ceremony that day was also a burn survivor and said that Mrs. Thomas was her hero and she had wanted to meet her for some time.  An inspiration, role model, survivor, blessing and the list goes on and on."

"I had the pleasure and honor of hearing Mrs. Linda Rowe Thomas, speak and she gave a positive and a very moving, motivational speech. I was where I needed to be and to hear what I needed to hear. All of the obstacles she had to face in life her mom instilled in her, "can't is not option; you need to figure it out."

                                                                                                  ~ Schnina

"The first time I heard Linda's story of surviving a tragic house fire at age 2, I was incredibly touched and impressed with both her candor and the challenges she has overcome -- challenges which would defeat many others. Linda Rowe Thomas is an inspiration to anyone who has survived a terrible accident or lived through a traumatic experience. Her story shows that despite setbacks or seemingly overwhelming odds, we can still achieve our goals through faith and perseverance.
